A Fine 25-Bore Italian Flintlock Fowling-Piece In The Brescian Manner

With sighted two-stage barrel fluted on the octagonal breech section and chiselled in relief with a band of acanthus foliage at the rear, plain tang, signed rounded lock with chiselled grotesque mask in high relief on the tail and the cock retaining screw, moulded full stock, engraved and chiselled iron mounts including pierced side-plate and escutcheon, the bow of the trigger-guard with a further grotesque mask, the butt-plate retained by three pins each with large head in the form of grotesque mask, turned ramrod-pipes, original iron-capped ramrod, and in exceptionally fine original condition throughout
40½in. (102.8cm.) barrel
A very similar gun was sold as lot 16 in the 1927 Fischer & Kahlert auction in Luzern
