A Pair Of 12-Bore Austrian Flintlock Sporting Carbines

With heavy swamped octagonal sighted barrels cut with seven grooves, signed in full behind the back-sight, with oval gold-lined maker's mark, and retaining faint traces of blue, one with silver fore-sight, the rear of each breech engraved with a band of beadwork, border engraved tangs numbered 1 and 2 respectively, signed border engraved rounded locks with moulded border, moulded figured walnut full stocks (some bruising, cracks and repairs) carved with scrollwork in relief and with cheek-piece, brass mounts of shaped outline engraved with strapwork and foliage, the solid side-plates each engraved with a boar-hunt in a landscape, and the bow of each trigger-guard with a sportsman loading his rifle, vacant escutcheons each with a coronet above, fluted patch-box covers of horn and wood, iron sling mounts (one missing), turned brass ramrod-pipes, horn fore-end caps, set triggers, and horn-tipped ramrods (one associated)
