An Unusual Brescian Snaphaunce Blunderbuss
Circa 1700
With strongly belled three-stage barrel turned at the muzzle and intersections, the fluted breech section stamped 'Pietro Moreto' between small trefoil marks and with raised moulding at the rear, plain tang, flat lock stamped with initials 'P.G.' on the inside, moulded three-quarter stock with fluted butt, steel mounts, saddle-bar with sliding ring, steel fore-end cap, single turned steel ramrod-pipe, and later steel-tipped ramrod, in fine condition throughout

The signature on the barrel is probably that of Pietro Moreta, found on barrels of the second half of the 17th, and the first half of the 18th century
