A Pair Of 16-Bore Flintlock Pistols
Signed Dawes, London, circa 1800
With lightly swamped barrels engraved 'London' on the top flat, and with a band of foliage at the rear of the breech, silver fore-sights, engraved tangs incorporating the back-sights, signed bevelled locks each with engraved stepped tail, safety-catch, roller, and raised pan, figured walnut full stocks, chequered butts, engraved iron mounts including trigger-guards each with pineapple finial, silver escutcheons, and brass-tipped ramrods (one replaced), London and Birmingham proof marks

The makers are almost certainly William & Samuel Dawes, sword cutlers and gunmakers of Birmingham (recorded 1799-1812) (2)
