A 30-Bore Viennese Wheel-Lock Rifled Carbine

With swamped octagonal barrel rifled with eight grooves, signed at the breech and deeply struck with brass-lined maker's mark, folding leaf back-sight with pierced and chiselled extension, flat lock engraved with a sportsman aiming his wheel-lock at a hare in a netted landscape, pierced and engraved bronze wheel-cover and bridle to the cock-spring, the former decorated with a double-headed eagle, figured fruitwood full stock inlaid at a later date with white horn scrollwork and dots, and dark and white horn geometric designs enriched with pieces of mother-of-pearl, horn-covered wooden patch-box cover inlaid with white horn lines and roundels (one missing), white and dark horn butt-plate, horn fore-end cap inlaid with white horn lines, set trigger, indented iron trigger-guard with foliate finial, pierced and engraved bone ramrod-pipes, and wooden ramrod tipped with white and dark horn
