With two-stage barrel (originally blued) engraved with a gilt sunburst at the muzzle, octagonal breech with punched and gilt scrollwork and inscribed in gold 'Cn. Tordu', bright rounded lock engraved 'St. Etienne', moulded walnut full stock carved in relief with a floral spray at the barrel tang, shaped iron mounts including spurred pommel, and later iron-tipped ramrod
