A 20-Bore Silver-Mounted Flintlock Pistol In The French Style
Signed Rousset à Turin, circa 1765
With lightly belled two-stage barrel with silver fore-sight, retaining some punched and gilt decoration including a trophy of arms on the octagonal breech (left side with surface pitting), engraved tang, signed border engraved lock with shaped cock (top jaw and screw replaced) and stepped tail, figured walnut full stock carved with flowers and foliage in relief behind the barrel tang and rear ramrod-pipe, full silver mounts finely cast and chased in relief with trophies of arms and rococo ornament against a punched and gilt ground, shaped solid side-plate, spurred pommel with grotesque mask cap, vacant escutcheon, engraved silver ramrod-pipes, and iron-capped ramrod (incomplete), all the external screws with gilt head, French silver marks
