An Unusual 50-Bore Brescian Wheel-Lock Holster Pistol
Early 17th Century
With two-stage barrel, octagonal breech (back-sight missing), shaped flat lock with sliding pan-cover and external wheel with annular retaining bracket (cock associated), walnut full stock (some damage and repairs), the fore-stock inlaid with two steel bands finely pierced and engraved with scrolling flowers and foliage, steel trigger-plate, large side-plate, and smaller panel on each side of the butt each finely pierced and engraved en suite, steel butt-plate finely engraved with scrolling foliage, trigger-guard with turned finial, and original iron-tipped ramrod
