With flat head, the upper half of the spike of stiff diamond section, narrow axe-blade with down-sloping straight edge, struck on one face with a maker's mark, a rosette in a shield, triangular fluke, rectangular socket with four side-straps, and original wooden staff stamped four times with a mark like a fir-tree and painted in red with the number 'B 30'
