A Swiss Halberd Of 'Sempach' Type
Mid-17th Century
With short broad tapering spike with tip of stiff diamond section, narrow oblong axe-blade with slightly convex cutting edge, flat triangular fluke struck on one face with the mark of a double fleur-de-lys in a shield, two side-straps, and original wooden staff of octagonal section with old painted arsenal number 'KZ 3463' (Cantonal Arsenal)
13¼in. (33.7cm.) head
The mark is that of Lamprecht Koller, who made over 1000 "Sempacher-halbarten" for the Zürich Arsenal
