A Pair Of German Fingered Gauntlets
Mid-16th Century
Of bright steel, each with bell-shaped boxed cuff with roped recessed border followed by an inner file-roped rib, pointed in the centre, five articulated metacarpal plates, ridged and roped knuckle-plate and shaped finger base-plate, overlapping finger-scales riveted to leathers, thumb-defence on leather hinge with similar scales, lining rivets with domed brass heads throughout, and original leather lining gloves and leathers (some damage, textile covered cross-straps replaced) (2)
