A Rare German (Nuremberg) Pavise
15th Century
Of wood, of characteristic rectangular shape, covered with leather (damaged, mainly on the edges), painted black on the front which retains traces of a coat-of-arms, almost certainly that of Nuremberg, the back branded twice with the arms of Nuremberg and retaining the original leather hand-grip (damaged and partly detached) attached to iron rings and staples
