A North Italian Part-Armour
Late 16th Century
Comprising 'Spanish' morion, peasecod breast-plate with single-plate skirt and multi-plate tassets (three plates partly replaced), and back-plate, finely etched throughout in the 'Pisan' manner, the breast-plate with moveable gussets each with turned and roped border, turned and roped neck, and etched at the top with the figure of Fortune above two embossed volutes etched respectively with a male and female portrait bust, the back-plate with similar volutes, and at the centre of the top an etched mark consisting of an orb and cross, the orb enclosing a capital 'P', the helmet of one piece with brass plume-holder and narrow brim rising to a point fore and aft
