Lot Essay

In 1949 twenty-three Bills were presented by private members devoted to Animal Rights under the title "Animal Grab". These bills precipitated the last march of Country Folk who joined forces and marched down Piccadilly in protest against bloodsports. They were successful and curbed any subsequent discussion on the subject until the recent Hyde Park demonstrations, nearly fifty years later.

Shepard appears to have combined some of his own The Wind in the Willows characters with Beatrix Potter's Pigling Bland, Mr Fox and others inorder to convey the message.
