A Muslim type lacquered wood and ivory mounted chess set, probably late 19th century
lacquered green and ochre, the pieces with petal-cut rosette nippled finials, royal pieces of campana-form, bishops with tall slender stems on domed bases, knights and rooks of similar smaller graduated form, pawns of waisted form, king -- 2 7/8in. (7.2cm) high, pawn -- 1 3/16in. (3cm) high
