A VERY RARE LARGE BAMBOO VENEER SCEPTRE, RUYI
18TH CENTURY

The ruyi-head terminal of classic form, extending to an unusually long arched shaft of rectangular section carved as four segments, each terminating with incurving lines, the end pierced with a hole, the hardwood sceptre covered in a very thin bamboo veneer with an even attractive golden-brown patina (minor losses to extremities, small age crack)--26 1/2in. (67.2cm.) long
