Further details
Note: The Hong Kong G.P.O. ran short of stamps when the keys to the safe were in the possession of an employee who was marooned in Kowloon. The Postmaster General authorised the use of three "Postage Paid" chops (which had been kept in reserve for emergency use) from 11.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. only. Very few registered covers were serviced.
