A ROBIN'S-EGG-GLAZED LANTERN-SHAPED VASE
IMPRESSED QIANLONG SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The sides moulded with a pair of inverted vase-form handles below the high shoulder, covered with a finely mottled glaze of rich turquoise and lapis-blue tone continuing over the slightly lipped rim to the interior and on the base

Lot Essay

Vases of this type, referred to as denglong zun, are more often found with Jiaqing and Daoguang seal marks, however cf. a Qianlong example from the Grandidier collection, in the Musee Guimet, illustrated in Oriental Ceramics, The World's Great Collections, Kodansha Series, vol. 7, fig. 184; another is illustrated in Keitokuchin Jiki, pl. 88, bottom left, in the Jingdezhen Ceramic Museum.
