This Canterbury derives from a design by John C. Loudon published in 1833 in his Encyclopaedia of Cottage, Farm and Villa Architecture and Furniture, 1833. A similar canterbury based on the same design was sold anonymously, Sotheby's London, 27 September 1996, lot 176 (£5,520) and another almost identical one was sold anonymously, in these Rooms, 25 September 197, lot 235.
