CIRCA 1740, APPARENTLY UNMARKED, POSSIBLY DRESDEN, FITTED LATER WITH A SILVER MODEL OF AN ENGLISH MARQUESS' CORONET
细节
A German silver-gilt cup-mount
Circa 1740, apparently unmarked, possibly Dresden, fitted later with a silver model of an English Marquess' coronet
On shaped oval domed base chased with panels of shells and scrolling foliage on matted ground, the stem cast and chased as a kneeling native American Indian with his hands upraised to support the cup (now lacking and replaced by a miniature model of an English Marquess' coronet) the base engraved with later inscription "GAGE D'AMITIÉ 17Janr 1828"
19 cm. (7.1/2 in.) high
gross 417 gr. (13 oz.)
The coronet is likely to be from a tipstaff used at the Coronation of either King George IV of England in 1820 or his successor, William IV in 1830, and presented to Charles 3rd Marquess of Londonderry (1778-1854), an ancestor of the present owner
