A SWISS JEWELLED VARI-COLOUR GOLD SEALING-WAX CASE
Geneva, circa 1780
Slightly tapering three-colour gold étui-à-cire of oval section, both cover and base with two oval reserves engraved with sunburst motifs chased with trophies of love, gardening and music, within borders of rose-cut diamonds, flanked by sunburst motifs and hung with bows and laurel swags, the borders applied with bands of rose-cut diamonds and set with red stones, the slightly domed top chased with a flowerspray on a sunburst motif, with plain matrix, the inside later transformed into a lipstick holder
