A MAGNIFICENT SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND PENDENT NECKLACE, BY VAN CLEEF & ARPELS
The detachable pendant set with a rectangular-cut sapphire weighing 37.52 carats in a circular-cut diamond drop-shaped cluster surround to the marquise-cut diamond surmount suspended from a five cluster front section, the cut-cornered rectangular-cut sapphires weighing from left to right 11.59, 13.21, 11.29, 14.88 and 9.10 carats to the detachable circular-cut diamond foliate neckchain, mounted in platinum, 1960, 40.5 cm., with French assay marks, in a Van Cleef & Arpels blue leather fitted case (the 17.0 cm. central section detaches to be worn as a bracelet, pendant may be worn with diamond earclips of lot 557)

With six certificates dated 25/4/1995 from the Gbelin Gemmological Laboratory stating that the sapphires weighing 11.29 and 11.59 carats are of Burmese origin, in their opinion, and the remaining four sapphires are of Burmese origin. All six sapphires show no indications of thermal treatment (3)
