A VICTORIAN ELECTRO-PLATE MOUNTED HORN CENTREPIECE
The base struck with an unascribed maker's mark W.M. and a star,
circa 1890
On shaped domed base with foliage and scroll feet, richly embossed with scallop shells and rocaille, beneath a reed and tie border, the stem formed as a hippocampus supported on a concave reeded socle and rocky outcrop, the large curved ox horn further mounted with pierced scroll and foliage strapwork, enclosing engraved coat-of-arms within rococo cartouche, issuing a beaded and foliate band, headed with a Bacchic mask to the rocaille bordered everted rim mount, the panels to the base engraved with three sets of crowned monograms and inscribed Dunrobin Castle, October 1890
