Lot Essay

The studded oval leather back and bowed seat are similar to the chair that Lorimer used at his desk at Gibliston although that example had downswept arms and square tapering legs. The inspiration of the shepherd crook arms, cabriole legs and pad feet is again Queen Anne. Note the very reticent moulding to the top of the legs that gently offsets their curve.
