The attributions are due to Dr. R. Trnek, who has examined the picture. She compares it with that by De Heusch in the Gemäldegalerie der Akademie der Bildenden Kýnste, Vienna (R. Trnek, Die Holländische Gemälde des 17. Jahrhunderts in der Gemäldegalerie der Akademie der Bildenden Kýnste in Wien, 1992, p.184, no61, with ill.). She compares the staffage by Van Huchtenburgh with that in the picture by Frederic de Moucheron and Jacob van Huchtenburgh in a private collection (R. Trnek, Die Niederländer in Italien, exh. cat., 1986, p.148/50, no53, with ill.). As explained by R. Trnek, op. cit., p.185, the oeuvre of De Heusch comes close to the work of his master, Jan Both.
