A Canton famille rose bough-pot and cover
19th Century
Of square octagonal shape, the slightly tapering sides supported on a splayed stepped foot, the four main sides enamelled with vertical scroll panels alternately enclosing butterflies and birds among fruit and roses and figure scenes, reserved on a gilt ground painted with dense scrolling foliage and decorated in relief with berries, tassels and small fo-dogs, applied on two sides with twisted-rope handles, the domed cover pierced with five apertures
