A painted red pottery figure of an equestrian figure
Tang Dynasty
The mounted court lady shown in upright position twisted slightly to the left, the hands positioned to hold the reins in the hollowed fists, wearing a long loose tunic, the hair puffed up around the plump face with small features, the horse standing four-square on a rectangular base, the head inclined forward with pricked ears and eyes alert, the the mane and tail cropped, traces of red, white and black pigment (some restoration, small chips)

Lot Essay

The result of the Oxford thermoluminescence test, no. C97n31 is consistent with te dating of this lot.
