De Natuurlyke der Insecten. Haarlem & Amsterdam: C.H.Bohn & H.Gartman, [n.d. but ?1765-1788]. 5 volumes in 9, 4° (260 x 204mm). Three hand-coloured engraved frontispieces, uncoloured engraved portrait of Roesel by C.Brouwer after Van der Smissen, hand-coloured engraved section title and 383 on 313 engraved plates (3 folding). First eight vols. (i.e. vols.I-IV) bound in contemporary cat's-paw calf, spines gilt in six compartments with raised bands, red and green morocco lettering-pieces in two, the others with repeat pattern made up from various small flower and foliage tools (spines slightly rubbed), ninth vol. (i.e. vol.V) in old boards (worn, backstrip lacking). Provenance: most plates with early manuscript titling in an unidentified early hand.

Very fine hand-colouring by Kleeman and his wife Katharina Barbara Roesel von Rosenhof of this Dutch translation of Der monatlich herausgegebenen Insceten Belustigung (Nuremberg, 1746-1792). The fifth volume, by Kleeman, with 26 plates, corresponds to Landwehr's third state with no title and the text extended to p.192. (9)
