The circular top inset to the centre with a turquoise-ground plaque painted with a portrait of Marie de Medici, the foliate-chased border inset with eighteen oval medallions each painted with a portrait of a courtier, with pierced frieze, on baluster support cast with drapery swags and scrolling acanthus, on triform base and castors, with protective glass top

Lot Essay

This table de milieu belongs to a group of porcelain-mounted centre tables, which are decorated with portrait panels of French historical figures. Other tables were sold in these Rooms on 2 June 1995, lot 149 and 27 February 1997, lot 2.
