The commode, with figures dressed in the elegant fashion illustrated in La Galerie des modes et costumes franais, 1778, is copied from one in the Camando collection presented to the Louvre and bearing the stamp of Jean Georges Schlichtig (maître 1765) (see F. de Salverte, Les Ebenistes du XVIIIe Siècle, Paris 1989, p. 792).
