A pair of French pink-ground baluster vases
Third quarter 19th Century
Of tapering form, painted with continuous friezes of mythological figures in wooded landscapes, one with a nymph and a youth in close embrace attended by cherubs bearing an engraved stone slab, the other with cherubs at a waterfall offering a goblet of water to a nymph and a youth, the reverses with ruins, the scenes enclosed within horizontal ciselé gilt bands below flared necks and spreading circular feet edged in gilding, incised t. 230
