The green-patinated bronze overthrow with scrolled supports and entwined vine ornament, the well head carved in the round in high relief with a Bacchic procession of cherubs and a panther-drawn chariot, on a stepped naturalistic base, on a six-piece stepped marble foot

A marble fountain, signed by Lapini and dated 1888, was offered in these Rooms, 30 May 1996, lot 270. Celebrated as a sculptor of genre figures and groups, Lapini excelled in his portrayal of young children.
