An ormolu and marble mantel clock
In the Louis XVI Style, Last quarter 19th Century
Surmounted by ribbon-tied quivers of arrows, floral wreaths and laurel branches, the rectangular case with bevelled glass front, back and sides, the circular enamel dial with Arabic numerals and pierced gilt hands, the twin-train movement with countwheel striking on a bell, with Mercury and sunburst pendulum, above scrolling acanthus and a pair of tied cockerel heads, the sides with scrolled acanthus-cast supports centred by a lion mask, on shaped base inset with laurel and vines on foliate-cast toupie feet
