A French ormolu-mounted bois satine, amaranth and parquetry bureau a cylindre

The upper part with a rectangular top, above three frieze drawers, above the cylinder, opening to reveal an interior fitted with four small drawers to each side, the centre with an open compartment, fitted with two concealed drawers, above a long shallow drawer, with a pull-out gilt-tooled green leather writing surface, the sides and back with parquetry panels, the lower part fitted with three frieze drawers above a central kneehole, the reverse with three apparent drawers, the sides each with a pull-out gilt-tooled green leather inset writing slide, above a panelled frieze with finely cast ormolu mount, on square tapering legs, the frieze drawers each stamped WASSMUS once, the right hand drawer stencilled A.W./L. 1488
