1971 FERRARI 365 GT 2+2 COUPE
Registration No. French registered
Chassis No. 14021
Engine No. 14021
Ocean blue metallic with black leather interior.
Engine: V12, twin overhead camshaft, 4390cc, 320bhp at 7000rpm; Gearbox: manual five-speed in unit with engine; Suspension: self-levelling, fully independent by wishbones and coil springs; Brakes: disc all round; Steering: worm and gear, power assisted. Left hand drive.
The brilliant Paris Salon in the autumn of 1967 was chosen for the debut of the graceful 365 2+2. Combining grace and luxury with the strength and presence of the 500 Superfast, from which it was directly descended, the new type was an immediate success, providing more than 50 of Maranello's production during its life. A total of 800 or so were built between 1967 and 1971. To provide sufficient power for an inevitably weighty four-seater, the four-litre engine of the 330 GT range was bored out to 4.4 litres. Combined with other changes, this took output to 320bhp, but as important was a substantial boost to mid-range torque. Maranello took great pains to ensure the 365 GT's appeal to discerning owners. Engine, transmission and differential unit were built as a single rigid unit attached to the chassis at only four points, most effectively insulating the cabin from noise and vibration. With air conditioning as an option and provided with a capacious luggage boot, the type provided tractable, satisfying Grand Touring.
This 365 GT 2+2 was delivered new to France and has been owned by the vendor for 20 years. The bodywork is described as 'very sound' and has been resprayed. The original interior displays an appealing patina, with excellent leather and polished wood on the instrument panel. It is understood that the engine has been rebuilt. With the exception of weak synchromesh on third gear, the mechanical condition of the car is described as very good and it is said to go very well.
