We Meet Mother
signed with a fly (lower right), signed again, dated and inscribed 'We meet mother, but what has she got!.../what indeed, George & I and the dogs, Gyp & Barney/had been to stay with Grandma and the Aunts/when, on our afternoon walk along Spring Lane/to the Cemetery we met mother holding a very/Pink, very cross Baby. Aunt Mary said she was/our new sister and we must always love her/George & I turned away & felt very hurt as we/knew if she was going to live with us always/our peaceful life would be over, "Never mind"/said George, "I'll marry you, then we can go away"/But we did enjoy choosing her name which was/'Dorothy' and we had a splendid party for her/Christening with lots of people and a huge cake/and the year was 1908/Helen Layfield Bradley 1967 (on a label attached to the reverse)
