Lot Essay

Sickert lived in St. George's Hill House from December 1938 until his death in January 1942. Many of his latest paintings are of the house and its gardens. The present work is a view of the garden in summer.

We are very grateful to Dr. Wendy Baron for her assistance in cataloguing this lot.
