The frosted gilt chain fusee movement with duplex escapement altered to bimetallic balance with free sprung blued steel hairspring with ruby endstone, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, large subsidiary seconds and gold spade hands, in later engine-turned silver case, movement signed and numbered

Lot Essay

This movement, made in 1817, would have originally had a monometallic balance with temperature curb, but it has been upgraded to the more efficient bimetallic balance with free sprung hairspring. Probably at the same time the start/stop lever below the rim of the dial was removed.
