Unsigned, 1780s
The frosted gilt chain fusee movement with Pouzait's seconds beating lever escapement and large five spoke balance wheel, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, decorative gold hands, sweep centre seconds hand beating seconds, the hands adjusted by a knurled wheel under the bezel, start/stop lever at IIII, in plain gold case with glazed front and back, with a short length of chain and two keys
56 mm. diam.

Lot Essay

Gean Moise Pouzait born Geneva 1743, died 1793, Head of the first school of Horology in Geneva, invented this interesting escapement in 1786.
