Lot Essay
"These objects should be experienced more as props for some kind of a performance. By displaying them in the gallery, I confront the fact that they are real, in that they can potentially blow up: the work implies a threat to the viewer and the institution. I like the level of provocation it contains. However, they are not intended to function at that level: the issue of threat is more of a conceptual one; for instance, the fact that an art object should not be touched is literally spelt out here. What is also at stake here is the collective fascination for violence. In that sense, I do expect some negative reactions from the viewer. So I guess that I am trying to expose that appeal more than actually being seduced myself."
