Lot Essay

"I was never interested in real, fleshy things. I have always been interested in surfaces or - let's say - synonyms for something...I was never really interested in reality. I introduced my own expressiveness into painting and made a very special fantasy visible. My painting is defined by the revitalisation of dead forms. I'm trying to establish a kind of painting that is cold and without content so that misunderstandings become possible" (H. Klotz, 'Die Neuen Wilden in Berlin', Stuttgart, 1984, p.33)
