Painted on both sides and on the cover with scenes surrounding a kiln at Jingdezhen, alive with workers producing and transporting porcelain before pavilions and smoking kilns, divided at the sides by human faces in relief below tall feather handles, the cover surmounted by a flower finial, restored

Lot Essay

Scenes of potters at work at Jingdezhen, such as those represented on this tureen and cover, are rarely depicted on porcelains, and more commonly found in watercolours such as those from the Tingqua Studio.
