Lot Essay

An identification of the sitter as the Hon. Charles Harris has been suggested. G. C. Williamson and H. L. D Engleheart, George Engleheart 1750-1829 Miniature Painter to George III., London, 1902, p. 101 lists Lieut.-Col. Harris among Engleheart's sitters in 1809.
