A SET OF NINE GEORGE III MAHOGANY DINING-CHAIRS
Including one open armchair, each with triple-arched toprail above a pierced tapering rectangular splat and a padded seat covered in close-nailed brown leather, the armchair with outscrolled arms on downswept supports, on cabriole legs headed by shaped angle-brackets, on pad feet, two seat-rails replaced, four back legs with restored breaks, restorations, some angle-brackets replaced (9)
Provenance
These chairs have been in the same family house in North Wales for several generations.

Lot Essay

A similar set of dining-chairs, previously at Hamilton Palace, was sold by the Rt. Hon. The Earl of Lonsdale, O.B.E., Lowther Castle, Cumberland, Maple and Co., and Thomas Wyatt house sale, 15 April 1947, lot 162.
