Lot Essay

The small chest of drawers' elegant form with serpentined front and apron, relates to a pattern illustrated in Messrs. A. Hepplewhite and Co's The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1788, pl. 76, while its hermed stump feet feature in a Shearer pattern for a serpentined chest of drawers illustrated in The Cabinet-Maker's London Book of Prices, 1788, pl. 20.
