The following catalogue note for the Circle of Pieter Claesz. has been erroneously attached to lot 54.
This picture is based on a lost composition by Pieter Claesz. A version catalogued as by Roelof Koets was sold at Sotheby's, New York, 4 Nov. 1982, lot 64. The silver gilt stand in the form of Bacchus reappears in two other works by Claesz. (see N.R.A. Vroom, A Modest Message, Schiedam, 1980, II, p. 85, nos. 415 and 418).
