The Madonna and Child

We are grateful to Dr. Erich Schleier for confirming the attribution. He believes that the picture dates from the artist's Neapolitan period, 1634-1646, and points out that the view in the distance is probably of Naples. He compares the picture to Lanfranco's Madonna enthroned with Saints Anselmo and Ugo, in Afragola, painted in 1638-9 for the Certosa di San Martino, Naples, and to the Annunciation in the Augustinas Descalzas in Salamanca, painted c. 1638 for the Conde de Monterrey.
