Elegant Company making Music around a Table

This is one of the rare examples of a genre scene by the Brescian artist Antonio Gandino, who specialized in religious painting. The style of the present picture compares with a signed altarpiece of c. 1606 in the chapel of the Croci in the Duomo Vecchio of in Brescia (see A. Comboni, I dipinti di Moretto Cassali e Gandino nella Cappella delle Sante Croci a Brescia, Brescia, 1990).
