A Chelsea teabowl and trembleuse saucer
Circa 1755, red anchor marks
Each painted with two putti in iron-red on a grassy mound surrounded by a flock of birds and with scattered flower-sprays, brown line rims (some slight scratching and wear to interior of teabowl, very slight rubbing to rims)

Lot Essay

Cf. the examples from the Rous Lench Collection sold in these Rooms, 30 May 1990, lots 331 and 332. A saucer-dish from a similar service was exhibited at the E.C.C. Exhibition (1948) and illustrated in the Catalogue, pl. 49, no. 234, and subsequently sold in these Rooms, 2 November 1981, lot 153.
