Lot Essay

Both P. Reinicke and J.J. Kändler were thought to have modelled this series, although it is more probable that Peter Reinicke was its principal modeller. Rainer Rckert, op. cit. (1966), nos. 948-950, was among the first to question the involvement of J.J. Kändler with this series. The original drawings for the Cris de Paris series were commissioned from Christophe Huet, the brother of the manufacturer's Paris agent Jean-Charles who sent the thirty-six drawings from Paris in 1753.
